Peanut Butter for Haiti

by Terry on January 20, 2010

I did something I never do anymore. I went to manilow.com figuring there’d be a hotline about donating to the Manilow Fund for Health & Hope to help out the people of Haiti, just like there was for the Katrina disaster. But no, there’s nothing. I guess the Manilow Fund doesn’t find the people of Haiti worthy. So, instead, I contributed to a peanut butter drive organized by a financial forum I follow. Apparently peanut butter is a hot commodity in Haiti because it’s nutritious and practically indestructible. So, please consider donating. Go to this website to donate. Even if you can spare only enough for one jar of peanut butter, that jar will probably keep a family alive for a couple days.

Good idea. Too bad Manilow didn’t have anything there…maybe soon?

Apparently he’s done a TV commercial now for the Red Cross. I’m just surprised he didn’t appeal to his fan base to contribute, which is what he did for Katrina. He wouldn’t even have to donate anything himself, just ask his considerable number of fans to send money to the Fund earmarked for Haiti. Just weird.

Anyway, the peanut butter thing is a great way for people who can’t afford a big donation to do a little something.
